April showers bring May flowers but they also bring a new season of Bike New York programming! Mark Plaut, our Public Programs Manager, shares the new opportunities we have in store for our students and volunteers this spring. With new Bike Practice Sessions and Incentives Programs, there are more reasons to ride than ever before.

Jeff Quinn, an art director, home brewer, Brooklynite, friend of Bike New York, and year 'round bike commuter, signs up to ride the TD Five Boro Bike Tour Presented by REI almost every year. We wanted to know what inspires so many people who ride the streets of New York City on a regular basis to tack on 40 miles over a weekend in May to their total; as it turned out, that was a pretty silly question.

As it turns out, bikes are great parenting tools. Abbie Donoghue, Bike New York intern extraordinaire, spoke to three moms who bike with their families in NYC—and all agree that biking is an efficient way to get around town, gives kids a unique vantage point of their city, and is a whole lot of fun.
