March Volunteer Spotlight: Emily

Our favorite part of the month is here again—our monthly Volunteer Spotlight! Chatting with our stellar volunteers reminds us how incredible this community of cyclists is 🥰. We’re so grateful for the endless support from all of our volunteers over the years, but this month, we’re highlighting one in particular: Emily!

BIKE NEW YORK: What does volunteering for Bike New York mean to you?

Emily: It is a true joy to see someone learn to ride a bike. Biking makes me feel powerful, and it is rewarding for me to share that with others.

BNY: How long have you been a BNY volunteer?

E: I first volunteered in [the] Fall of 2019. I was so happy to get back to it once it was safe enough in 2020.

BNY: What’s your favorite BNY memory?

E: Being a part of the Gear Femmes classes this summer was such a great experience. Cultivating an encouraging and safe environment for the women was such a great experience. Seeing them work so hard and conquer their fears is so inspiring!

BNY: What’s your favorite bike route?

E: Shirley Chisholm State Park has great gravel trails. I love to see how the park changes in each season.
