Building and giving out bikes with Bloomberg, the New York Mets, and the YMCA!
Last week we teamed up with employees of Bloomberg and the New York Mets at Citi Field to build 1,000 bikes, setting a Northeast record! A few days later at two YMCA locations—the Flushing YMCA and the Bedford-Stuyvesant YMCA—we started giving the bikes out to children in our bike education program, and the remainder will be distributed this Saturday. While the smiles on the faces of the volunteers putting the bikes together were certainly impressive, there’s nothing quite like “new bike smile”—especially when there are hundreds of them.
