Position: Event Production Associate

Reports to: Director of Events

Salary: $30 an hour

Classification: Part-time, non-exempt

 

This is primary a remote position.  However, candidates must live within the New York City Metro Area.  Weekend work will be required for actual event weekends.

 

Organization Overview: Bike New York is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower New Yorkers to transform lives and their communities through bicycling. We accomplish this through free educational programming, dynamic public events, workforce development classes, advocating for safer and more equitable streets, expansive outreach, and collaboration with community and government organizations. Best known for producing America’s largest bike ride—the TD Five Boro Bike Tour, a ride for 32,000 cyclists through all five boroughs of New York City on 40 miles of car-free streets—Bike New York also organizes regional rides and small community rides.  Proceeds from these events help fund our programs, including free bike education classes for kids and adults throughout New York City.

 

Job Description: We are seeking talented and enthusiastic people to join our Events Team! Event Production Associate help to execute and ensure the success of Bike New York’s events, including the TD Five Boro Bike Tour. The core responsibility of this position is to provide on-site logistics and operational support for assigned areas.

 

Roles are available at the Start Area, Finish Festival, along the course, at Rest Areas and Water Stations, at Packet Pick Up, and at our warehouse. Staff members may be assigned to assist or manage a wide variety of tasks. Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Help with set-up and clean-up of assigned areas
    • Set up and breakdown sites according to layouts; working with event equipment such as signage, tents, tables, barricades, cones, etc.
    • Assist with loading and unloading vehicles at event sites
  • Day-of execution, providing on-site logistical support and performing specific operational duties as assigned
    • Follow event plans/timelines as provided
    • Assist with registration/check-in, volunteer management, traffic flow, crowd control, etc.
  • Communicate with event staff, participants, volunteers, and the public in a timely, courteous, and professional manner
    • Proactively identify and address any on-site issues

 

Requirements:

  • Interest in event production
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow/execute directions
  • Ability to perform physical tasks
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to work weekends and early shifts
  • An undergraduate degree and a minimum of 2-5 years of related event production experience, mass participation event experience preferred
