Looking Back on 2020
As we approach the end of a year unlike any we have ever known, our team is reflecting on the strength of NYC’s cycling community with deep gratitude. We’ve always known that bikes are so much more than wheels and gears, but in 2020, the world learned just what kind of amazing things our pedals can power.
Take a look at what your support has made possible this year as we ride on toward a brighter tomorrow.
JOIN STREET ACTION NOW!
Street Action Now! is our new program designed to help New Yorkers get connected with the tools, resources, and information they need to transform their streets. Through supportive assignments, expert guidance, and mediated group discussions with peers from across the five boroughs, we’re instructing city residents on how to identify and report unsafe streets. Want to join our next Street Squad? Submit your application for our second cohort by Wednesday, December 2!
CATCH THE HIGHLIGHTS!
In October 2020, bike lovers from around the world got together to take on a month of cycling for a cause—Bike New York’s first-ever virtual event, the Spoketober Challenge. Tune in to Spoketoberfest, the online-only finish festival commemorating the spirited crew of over 1,000 riders who committed to riding every day in October!
Ask The Experts @ NYU Langone Health
We recently sat down with our official healthcare partner, NYU Langone Health, to discuss expert-approved tips for how cyclists of all skill levels can train effectively, avoid injury, and make the most of their time behind the handlebars.
BIKE EDUCATION GOES VIRTUAL
We’ve just launched an online resource to help a new generation of cyclists feel empowered to ride at home! Our Virtual Bike Education Resource Hub is a comprehensive database of free- and low-cost materials designed for parents and educators to inform and inspire kids through the power of bicycles. Check out our staff-recommended media materials including reading lists, videos, movies, documentaries, activities, and curricula made to keep kids from pre-K through high school engaged with the history, community, fitness, and fun of cycling.
Our blog has everything from event recaps to bike maintenance tips to interviews with movers and shakers in the NYC bike scene. Take a look around!
