  • If you don’t receive a wave assignment email by Sunday, April 30, please reach out to us at info@bike.nyc.

All Members are assigned to Standard Wave 1.

PLEASE NOTE:  Wave assignments cannot be changed. If you didn’t join a team and are assigned to a different wave than your friends and family, you may all start in the later of your group’s assigned start waves.

When/where is Packet Pickup for the 2023 Tour?

For the 2023 Tour, we’re returning to in-person Packet Pickup for all participants. Here’s what you’ll need to know:

Center 415, 415 5th Avenue Between E 37th and E 38th St, New York, NY 10016

Thursday, May 4:  5:00PM – 8:00PM

Friday, May 5:  9:00AM – 8:00PM

Saturday, May 6:  9:00AM – 5:00PM

Here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:

  • Your confirmation email (with the QR code at the bottom)
  • Your government-issued photo ID

We are offering Proxy packet pickup again – see the FAQ below for more details.

What if I can't come to Packet Pickup? Can someone else pick up my packet for me?

Yes – for the 2023 Tour, we are offering Proxy packet pickup again, but we’ve changed how it works. We’ve gotten rid of the old Proxy form, so it’s much easier now!

If you’re having someone pick up your rider packet, please email the following to your Proxy:

  • Your confirmation email (with the QR code at the bottom)
  • A copy of your government-issued photo ID

If you’re the Proxy, please bring the two items listed above plus your own government-issued photo ID to our Packet Pickup event (please see the FAQ above). You don’t have to print these items out – you can have them on your phone or other device.

If you’re picking up a packet for your Youth rider (under age 18), you don’t need to have their photo ID, just their confirmation email.

I ordered a jersey - where can I pick it up?

For all VIPs who registered before April 1, your jersey is waiting for you in the VIP area, along with your rider kit and other VIP swag. If you signed up after April 1, your jersey will be shipped to you after the Tour.

For all Standard riders with a US shipping address, your jersey was shipped to you in mid-April.

For all Standard riders with an international shipping address, please go to the VIP area in Packet Pickup to get your jersey.

Can I bring a bag on the Tour?

You may bring a bag on the Tour, with the following exceptions:

  • No bags with shoulder straps (including backpacks, messenger bags, hydration packs, and drawstring bags),
  • no panniers or bags that hang on the side of your bike
  • no covered baskets
  • no bags over 420 cubic inches

Here’s some more info.

Please note:  These restrictions are subject to change; we will update this page if there are any changes to our policy.

How do I make sure that I am registered for the Tour?

If you’ve gotten a confirmation email, you are registered.

You can confirm your registration by logging into your EnMotive account to view your registration details. If you have an incomplete registration, you can finish signing up then. Please make sure to sign your waiver!

Where does the Tour start? How do I get back to Manhattan after the Tour?

The Tour starts in lower Manhattan, from Canal Street down to the Battery, depending on your Start Wave.

After you finish riding, you’ll ride three miles to the Staten Island ferry which will take you back to lower Manhattan, unless you’ve parked your car on Staten Island.

For more information, please have a look at the Official Program & Ride Guide.

Will there be medals for the 2023 Tour?

Yes! Medals will be handed out to all Tour finishers at the Finish Festival.

I'm a Bike New York Member; can my friends and family ride with me in the first wave?

If your friends and family are Bike New York Members, they will automatically be placed in Standard Wave 1 with you.

If you want to ride with friends or family who are not Bike New York Members, you may start with them in their assigned wave.

How can I ensure that I am assigned to the same start time as my friends and family?

For Standard and Standard Deferred riders, you must be on a team together. If you were unable to create or join a team with friends and family before the team formation deadline, you may start with them in the later of your group’s assigned waves.

Please noteVIPs and Bike New York Members do not need to form teams; you’ll automatically be grouped together.

What kind of bike is allowed on the Tour? Can I use my e-bike?

Any human-powered pedaled bike (recumbent, unicycle, tandem, tricycle, etc.) is permitted.

Also, based on changes to NYC law, you may now use a Class 1 pedal-assist e-bike in the Tour.

Please note:  Class 2 or throttle e-bikes are not permitted on any Bike New York events.

I deferred my past Tour entry to the 2023 Tour. What are my options now?

If you have a deferred registration, you should have gotten an email from us in mid-to-late November 2022 (at the email address used for your original Tour registration) with instructions on how to redeem your deferred Tour entry.

The deadline for Standard riders to redeem deferred entries was April 8, and the deadline for deferring VIPs was April 17 at noon, Eastern time.

Are riders required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to participate in the 2023 Tour?

Vaccination is recommended but not mandatory for participation in the 2023 Tour. We will comply with all city, state, and federal COVID-19-related health guidelines (which may change at any point up to the Tour) to maximize safety for all participants, volunteers, and staff.

If you are not vaccinated, please wear a mask at our packet pickup, the Tour start, and at the Tour Finish Festival.

Can I bring my pet on the Tour with me?

No. Pets are not allowed on the Tour.

Where does the money from my Tour registration fee go?

Proceeds from the Tour fund our free bicycle education programs as well as our advocacy work to create safer and more inclusive bike infrastructure in New York City. In 2021, we taught bike riding and bike safety skills in our virtual classroom to more than 20,000 kids and adults.
