SEND A YOUTH TO THE YOUTH BIKE SUMMIT

Help a youth grow as a leader and bicycle advocate by attending the Youth Bike Summit. The Youth Bike Summit (YBS) is a 3-day national conference bringing together students, educators, advocates, researchers, policy makers and community leaders in order to: gather and share ideas; give youth a voice, and; encourage civic engagement and advocacy. $35 funds registration for 1 youth to attend the 3-day event, which includes most meals.

$50

SUPPORT A SUMMER CAMPER

Open to youth ages 10-14, Bike New York’s summer Bike Camp makes it possible for more than 2,000 kids each year to enhance their bike riding skills while exploring their communities and increasing their physical activity.

$100

SUPPORT a middle school student

Support an active after school program participant for a year! Studies show that children who ride a bike two or three times a week are less likely to be overweight. Regular exercise reduces depression and increases kids’ self-esteem. That’s why Bike New York offers five daily after school programs, introducing hundreds of middle school students to the best way to get around and get moving.

$250

SUPPORT a Learn to ride class

Remember learning how to ride a bike? Some New Yorkers never got the chance! At every one of Bike New York’s free Learn to Ride classes about 25 of them make the jump from “non-cyclist” to “cyclist.” Kids and adults will learn how to balance and pedal a bike – a skill they’ll have for a lifetime.

$500

SUPPORT a Bike New York Bike and Helmet

Provide the hardware to be used at weekend classes, summer camp, and after school activities (includes maintenance). Bike New York’s educational programming – from weekend classes to summer camp– relies on an ever expanding fleet of bicycles and helmets stored at one of our five Bicycle Education Centers. By offering loaner equipment, Bike New York eliminates a critical barrier and gets more beginners bicycling.

$1000

SUPPORT a Bicycle Education Center

Expand bicycle education throughout the boroughs! This contribution will assist in the purchase of containers, bikes, locks, and equipment. Just as all New Yorkers deserve nearby park space, Bike New York believes that every community should have access to bicycle education and opportunities for physical activity. Once established, each of our Bicycle Education Centers has the potential to serve thousands of kids and adults, bringing bicycling to the masses for years.

About Bike New York

Bike New York is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that promotes and encourages bicycling and bicycle safety through education, public events, and collaboration with community and government organizations. In addition to producing the TD Five Boro Bike Tour, Bike New York offers free classes to the public, training for instructors, and local rides outside NYC. We have grand plans for the coming years to address the challenges faced by cyclists on New York’s crowded streets, and will continue to give people the skills and confidence they need to grab life by the handlebars.
