I love experiencing the many varieties of New York City’s urban landscape and the intimacy and rhythms of people and communities. When I bike, I ride slow and give myself plenty of time; the destination is less important than the journey itself. For someone like me, Vernon Blvd. from Roosevelt Island to Queens West is a truly great ride. It has a flat bike lane, single family homes, large residential public housing developments, parks, block long industrial utilities reminiscent of science fiction movies, and Queens West with its luxury building, restaurants, new parkland, and a gorgeous waterfront.
