Organization Overview: Bike New York is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and New York City’s leading proponent of cycling as a practical, sustainable, and healthy means of transportation and recreation. Bike New York offers free bike education programs throughout the five boroughs encouraging bicycling and bicycle safety through education, public events, and collaboration with community and government organizations. Best known for producing the largest cycling event in the United States, a 40-mile, car-free ride for 32,000 cyclists known as the TD Five Boro Bike Tour, Bike New York also produces Bike Expo New York as well as organizes regional rides outside of NYC.


Job Description: Bike New York is seeking a contract Warehouse Manager. Reporting to the Associate Director of Events, the ideal candidate will be highly organized, efficient, personable, and share the organization’s ambitions for bicycling.  This is an opportunity to be part of a growing organization with an exciting and dynamic work environment. This collaborative role involves working closely with all members of the staff as well as outside vendors, contractors and city agencies. Some evening and weekend work required.


Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Associate Director of Events, the Warehouse Manager is responsible for the management of equipment, packing, inventory and trucking for the TD Five Boro Bike Tour. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee warehouse operations from March – May for the Event
  • Conduct full inventory of warehouse equipment and report back to Associate Director recommendation for supply order
  • Work with Associate Director of Events and various area managers to edit and update master Tour equipment spreadsheet in advance of the Tour
  • Work with area managers on preparation of their respective equipment lists
  • Attend in-office meetings and conference calls with Events department, as necessary, related to warehouse operations
  • Ensure all materials have been ordered from suppliers and vendors, based on needs from event managers
  • Track inbound and outbound of all equipment, supplies, signage and keep updated records
  • Prep equipment/materials by truck for loading in a manner deemed effective for all parties
  • Create trucking plan (with Associate Director of Events and Area Managers) in regards to placing rental orders, production schedule and load/offload trucking schedules to ensure efficient truck loading process
  • Hire, train, schedule and manage warehouse staff during operational period, including submitting timesheets to HR Director for sign-off
  • Work with area managers and vendors coordinating truck loading days
  • Prepare warehouse for return of equipment and supplies post Event on Sunday, May 5
  • Oversee, assist warehouse staff with unloading/unpacking on Event day, followed by continued unpacking, cleaning of materials day of and following weeks
  • Basic inventory and unpacking/organizing of materials returned from the Event during the week of May 6th
  • Provide Associate Director with post-event wrap up, including inventory of supplies and suggestions for improvement



  • An undergraduate degree and a minimum of 2-3 years of related event production experience or 5-7 years relevant experience if no degree
  • Experience with warehousing and/or supply chain management
  • Strategic background with proven experience in planning and implementing large-scale mass participation events
  • Energetic, innovative, self-starter, problem solver, and results oriented
  • Detail oriented with the ability to prioritize, and excel in high-pressure environments
  • Ability to work within a team, build relationships and work collaboratively throughout the organization and on site
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills as an ambassador of Bike New York
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs over short distances
  • Ability to stand upright for up to eight hours continuously
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Forklift certification a plus, but not required
