What if I can't come to Packet Pickup? Can someone else pick up my packet for me?

Yes – for the 2023 Tour, we are offering Proxy packet pickup again, but we’ve changed how it works. We’ve gotten rid of the old Proxy form, so it’s much easier now!

If you’re having someone pick up your rider packet, please email the following to your Proxy:

  • Your confirmation email (with the QR code at the bottom)
  • A copy of your government-issued photo ID

If you’re the Proxy, please bring the two items listed above plus your own government-issued photo ID to our Packet Pickup event (please see the FAQ above). You don’t have to print these items out – you can have them on your phone or other device.

If you’re picking up a packet for your Youth rider (under age 18), you don’t need to have their photo ID, just their confirmation email.

How much does the Tour cost? What portion is tax-deductible?

The price for Standard registration is $129 (plus processing fees), $27 of which is a tax-deductible charitable donation.

VIP registration is $400 (plus processing fees), $84 of which is a tax-deductible charitable donation.

All Tour registration fees are non-refundable and non-deferrable.

Can you mail my rider identification kit to me?

No, all rider kits will be distributed at our packet pickup event (details to come in early 2023).

Will there be medals for the 2023 Tour?

Yes! Medals will be handed out to all Tour finishers at the Finish Festival.

How many miles is the Tour?

The Tour is about 40 miles long; the entire route takes place on car-free streets.

How do I make sure that I am registered for the Tour?

If you’ve gotten a confirmation email, you are registered.

If you don’t receive an email within a few hours of completing your registration, log into your EnMotive account to view your registration details. If you have an incomplete registration, you can finish signing up then. Please make sure to sign your waiver!

What is a team? Do I have to be on a team?

A team is a collection of Standard and Standard Deferred riders who want to start in the same wave. You can join the team created by your friends and family or create a team when you register for your friends and family to join. If you’re riding solo, you don’t have to be on a team.

Please note:  VIPs and Bike New York Members do not need to form teams; you’ll automatically be grouped together.

I'm a Bike New York Member; can my friends and family ride with me in the first wave?

If your friends and family are Bike New York Members, they will automatically be placed in Standard Wave 1 with you.

If you want to ride with friends or family who are not Bike New York Members, you may start with them in their assigned wave.

How can I ensure that I am assigned to the same start time as my friends and family?

For Standard and Standard Deferred riders, you must be on a team together. If you were unable to create or join a team with friends and family during registration or before the team formation deadline (usually in mid-March), you may start with them in the later of your group’s assigned waves.

Please noteVIPs and Bike New York Members do not need to form teams; you’ll automatically be grouped together.

Can I create a team if I'm already registered?

Yes! Here’s how to create/join a team after you’ve already registered (Standard and Standard Deferred riders only):

  1. Log into your EnMotive account.
  2. On your account page, click on Registrations on the left side and find your 2023 Tour registration.
  3. Click on the three dots, then View Registration.
  4. Click on Join Team.
  5. In the Add Details section you’ll see Team
  6. In the dropdown, you can create or join a team.
  7. Click Continue, and you’re all set to go!

Please noteVIPs and Bike New York Members do not need to form teams; you’ll automatically be grouped together.

How can I make sure I'm in the first wave for the Tour?

The only way to guarantee a start in Wave 1 of the Tour is to register as a VIP, a Bike New York Member, or a Charity rider. All other Standard and Standard Deferred riders will be placed in Waves 2 through 6, with consideration given to your start time preference.

Can VIP and Charity riders join a team?

No, but please remember:  As a VIP or Charity rider, you may ride at any start wave, so you can ride with whichever team you choose.

I deferred my past Tour entry to the 2023 Tour. What do I need to do now?

If you have a deferred registration, you should have gotten an email from us in mid-to-late November 2022 (at the email address used for your original Tour registration) with instructions on how to redeem your deferred Tour entry.

If you have a deferred entry but did not get our email, or if you no longer have access to the email address you used for your original Tour registration, please contact us at info@bike.nyc

Please note:  The 2023 Tour is the last year you may use your deferred entry. If you are unable to join us for the 2023 Tour, you may transfer your registration to someone else or convert your registration fee to a charitable donation, with our thanks for your generous support. Just email us at info@bike.nyc for more information.

Can international riders participate in the Tour?

Every year, we welcome cyclists from dozens of countries around the world. For the 2023 Tour, we will comply with all national and international travel guidelines in place up to and at the time of the Tour.

Where does the money from my Tour registration fee go?

Proceeds from the Tour fund our free bicycle education programs as well as our advocacy work to create safer and more inclusive bike infrastructure in New York City. In 2021, we taught bike riding and bike safety skills in our virtual classroom to more than 20,000 kids and adults.

What if I don’t have a bike?

We’re partnering with Unlimited Biking to arrange for bike rental pick-up in lower Manhattan and drop-off at the Staten Island Ferry (St. George Ferry Terminal) before you get on the trip back to Manhattan.

What kind of bike is allowed on the Tour? Can I use my e-bike?

Any human-powered pedaled bike (recumbent, unicycle, tandem, tricycle, etc.) is permitted.

Also, based on changes to NYC law, you may now use a Class 1 pedal-assist e-bike in the Tour.

Please note:  Class 2 or throttle e-bikes are not permitted on any Bike New York events.

Are riders required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to participate in the 2023 Tour?

Vaccination is recommended but not mandatory for participation in the 2023 Tour. We will comply with all city, state, and federal COVID-19-related health guidelines (which may change at any point up to the Tour) to maximize safety for all participants, volunteers, and staff.

If you are not vaccinated, please wear a mask at our packet pickup, the Tour start, and at the Tour Finish Festival.

Bike New York requests that all participants and their guests wear face masks at the Tour Finish Festival.

  8. The transfer will only be valid for 48 hours, so be sure they accept quickly!

I plan on riding a tandem with my spouse/friend/child. Do we both need to register?

Yes. All participants must register in order to ride in the Tour. Youths must be registered by a parent or guardian, and must be on the same team as their registered parent or guardian. Children under the age of 3 are not allowed on the Tour.

Can I register someone else for the Tour?
