Youth Bike Basics

A 3-hour on-bike class for youth ages 9 and up who have recently learned how to ride or want to improve their core cycling skills.

This 3-hour on-bike class is a kid-friendly adaptation of our Bicycling Basics class for adults and is designed as a next step for children ages 9+ who already know how to ride a bike but would like to refine their skills. The main emphasis will be on bike safety. Children will learn how to properly fit their helmets and seats, perform the ABC quick check, start and stop with confidence, and scan and signal. There will be an assessment at the beginning of the class to determine whether or not each child is ready to take the class. Questions? Email us at

Did your child just learn to how to ride? Are they still a little wobbly on their bike? Are they having trouble starting and stopping? Are they confused by the gears and how they work? Are you concerned about their safety knowledge? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then Youth Bike Basics is the class for them. This class is the next step after our Learn to Ride – Kids class and will cover topics such as controlled turning, hand signals, and shifting gears. This class is open to kids ages 9 and up. Attendees must know how to ride a bike (they can pedal, balance, start, stop, steer on their own without training wheels). Participants over 14 years old should consider taking our Bicycling Basics class for adults.

Upon registration, a parent or guardian will be required to enter a credit card number. If a student registers and attends a class, or cancels more than one week in advance of their class, the credit card will NOT be charged. However, any of the following will result in a $50 fee:
